Welcome
to the Hall Collectors Bulletin Board

If you would like to find a particular message/topic on this BB, try using the SEARCH option on the bottom of this page.

If you have a Gold Decorated teapot, with a 3 or 4 digit number on the bottom, you can look up what teapot you have, by clicking on the HOME PAGE link, then in the menu to the left, click on HALL CHINA INFO, and select TEAPOT ID CHART from the drop down menu. Then, just find the number on your teapot on the chart, and follow it to the left to find the name of the glaze color, and up to find the name of the shape.
(FYI:not all teapots are on the chart... these are just the main Gold Decorated teapots)

Well, I got some of my pages moved. I know the Hall Color page still needs it's links fixed and I am sure there are some other links that don't work yet either.

I am in the process of fixing up a few things - THEN, as I have time I plan to make many of the pages over from scratch.

Is the current link to my webpages.

I added some YouTube videos links on Hall China and Homer Laughlin and East Liverpool that I found. I thought you might enjoy some of these.

A thought for those of you attending the Hall Convention in Columbus... The American Art Pottery Association Convention is in Cleveland this year on April 21-25. So if you have a few extra days and love pottery, it's only a 2 hour drive to Cleveland. Past this link into your web browser for more details: http://tinyurl.com/ykpaasv

Cheryl in Illinois, I love the Coffeelator shape too. It's not like most Hall pots, most people are surprised to see how big it is 'in person', much bigger than it appears in the pics, or compared to other pots. It's true it's value is not currently as much as the book value. What hasn't dropped in value in the collectible market? As with a lot of Hall pieces, color makes a lot of difference. I recall several in the past year or so, lettuce and Chinese Red have gone over a hundred on ebay, a cobalt one on another auction site recently was over $60, about $80 with postage. There is a bit of a bias among some Hall collectors against coffee pots, though that graceful spout makes it look like a big teapot. Threre is a red one on now, I think there will be a lot of interest!

Bill I like Triline too, I have that pitcher in the biggest size, but without the lid, I thought I was lucky to find one, with or without. If I had a cocotte like yours I would use it every day, just because it's so cute.

Bill at least your heart is in the right place. Did you see the definition of a cocotte?
I know what computer trouble is, mine is trying to die, just hope it holds out for another couple of months.
I am preparing to list some decanter stoppers, neither of them are marked Hall but was told that is what they are. I also have a small dish that I am listing which is in Autumn Leaf and is the underplate for the mustard or the marmalade, not sure which. And finally I am adding my baked potato to my listings. I already listed my ashtray with match holder, and will list my tobacco jar on a wooden base with cutouts for 6 pipes. I am amazed that I have such a variety of Hall China. There are still many many more boxes to come down and my amazement grows as each comes to the forefront.
Thank you for your help.

June, sorry I wasn't around to answer your question... but I've been having internet trouble. (I guess a squirrel chewed on the cable, and luckily.. it didn't cost me a penny to get it fixed!)

The cocotte isn't one of the EASIEST pieces to find, but they are out there. I've seen them in black, white, and stock green and stock brown... still trying to get my hands on a RED one! However, what's NOT out there. (because it's right here with me! HA!) is this cocotte:

I believe the decoration is called Tri-Line. (or something like it...) I have a couple pieces with this decoration... and if you want to talk RARE. (oh gosh.. I can't believe I used the "R" word...!) you have to see THIS piece of "Tri-Line":

A #4 Radiance jug and lid. (and if you think I'm showing off... well, yes... I am, I L-O-V-E this particular jug!
It was one of the first Radiance jugs I ever got with a lid. Oh... how can I remember that, but not what day of the week it is half the time???

Thank you Luana,
I went to the catalog and found that this item is called a Cocotte, defined in Google Wiktionary as:

cocotte f. (plural cocottes)

(child talk) chicken, hen
(colloquial) honey, darling
casserole (pot); Dutch oven
promiscuous woman, prostitute
At least we know what it is called, officially and have the defination of same.
Thank you again. I will go add this to my listing. I bet it will add a little interest, don't you? Can't say we do not learn something new everyday.

June, The brown "skillet". It is a STOCK BROWN color of a restaurantware item--not rare--even has reorder number on the bottom. Not sure what the cataloge actually called it. I have several in my stock brown collection. Great for melting butter in microwave. Luana

Oh great Guru, who knows more than anyone else, I beg for your input, again.
I have listed 220565268556 and called it a skillet, since it looks like one to me, but really have no idea what it is or what the value really is. Can anyone help with any input. In my 55 years + of collecting I have never seen another one like this so, I come to you for HELP.
Thank you all.
I sure do seem to have about one of almost everything as my attic sighs in relief from the loss of weight as the boxes continue to come down and my collection dwindles. I am sure that each of these items moving to new homes brings a sigh of relief to my daughter as well, since she will not be faced with finding new homes when my time on earth is done. And just think I have only just begun to empty those boxes, still about 30 left up there.
God Bless.

Cheryl - While June is right about the book value of an emerald Coffelator, actual market value will vary - a lot. I bought mine on ebay in August 2008 for $29.99 plus shipping. It is in perfect condition but there were no other bidders. Several other Coffelators have appeared for sale over the last year or so & my impression was that there was little interest.

Message 754 - June |
Cheryl, according to the Hall Collectors Third Edition your coffeelator is listed at $170.00 for the Emerald and $180.00 for Turquoise. It is on page 316 in said book.
I hope this is of some help.
God Bless.

Hello! I have been trying to find reference and price guide on the coffelator coffee pot and lid. I have one in great conditon in a beautiful green. It has the white bottom with the coffelator co. its in the bag engraved stamp. I have checked the library and the internet. I have not been able to find the value of this one. It is from my grandmother and I just love it! Thank you for any information.

Well that testing says my first message must be in cyberspace.

I find it interesting how inventive some sellers are. Example e-bay 220560532507 . The seller says Sake set. I guess it could work--I see it as a hot water server and two custards. I finally broke down and purchased 10 yellow "flower" shaped custards on e-bay yesterday. Will try to get a nice picture when they come. Have a PayPal balance that is burning a hole in my pocket. Now to try to hide the purchase from Hubby and yet enjoy them. Afterall we still have 3 or 4 boxes unwrapped in the attic from the move to VT 3 years ago since there is no room to display. What a wonderful addiction!

No Bill it was not the one, it was the RED one.
Have you checked my little pink hot water lately? I am shocked, but then I am easily shocked. It is a cutie!!!!!
And those ice cream condiment containers all sold. One buyer wanted just one to put on her counter to hold utensils, now there is a really good idea as to what to do with them, they are a neutral color and being rectangles they take up little space and blend with any decor. So we have found a new market for ice cream condiment containers. Do you think eBay will have a run on them now? They really do look better than those round things that take up far more space.
Next box should come down next week, wonder what jewels will be in it?
I had a birthday today and got snow and a lot of it. Mother Nature is sure adept at making a work of art out of so many things but seldom as glorious as when she takes a pile of garbage and turns it into a magnificent work of art.
Have to prepare for the next snow storm coming next week.

Hello. I just found this site and am enjoying reading the comments. I have a collection of Autumn Leaf and am trying to decide what is the best way to sell it. Ebay, Craig's List, sites like this one, etc.? But my immediate question concerns a 53-piece set of Autumn Leaf that is in it's original box. I'm guessing that none of the pieces were ever used as they are packed nice and neat. Do you have any suggestion as to what something like this would sell for?

Shirley- We pay for this site and our own China Specialties site as well, and there is unlimited storage and traffic on either site under the plans I chose. There are probably a lot of feature we don't use, but I am kind of semi literate when it comes to websites. Bill is the expert here on transfering your site onto our server, but please move it to one or another of those sites. You are very computer savvy as well, and could probably upload it if you have the administrative password. email Bill or me at china-specialties@msn.com. Thanks. I LOVE your pages.

Dear fellow Hall collectors friends,

If you have my email address saved with an @worldnet.att.net that address will quit functioning next month. Just remove the worldnet part and make the address @att.net and it is supposed to work. (See email link in this message)

Also many of you know my Hall website on refrigeratorware and colors at:

http://hallchina.home.att.net/

It has been hosted at this site for about 10 years. This week my provider notified me that after next month they will no longer be providing me this webspace so I will have to find a new home for the information. (Perhaps this will motivate me to update the website)

I have an minimal website at:
http://silvaire8.web.officelive.com/default.htm
When I have a new home for the refrigerator and color information I will post the link on this site. SO if you want to keep informed about the new location please bookmark this weblink. (I will also post the info here when I have it).
